Sky Skills Studio Trip

Last week we went on a trip to Sky Studios to have a go at filming and editing news clips.

We were each given different roles/jobs to do to help create our clip.  There were reporters, editors, directors, producers, script writers and camera operators.

Here are some pictures of our day.

We stood in front of a green screen and the editors added a background to make it look like we were reporting on location.

Read our comments below about which job/role that we were given and what we enjoyed the most about our trip.

    1. Hi Tom,
That trip sounded like fun! :)
Earlier this year the grade 6s went to Soverign Hill. It`s a place where you get to dress like the people from the 17th centry. We dressed like the kids and had to go to on olden day school. It felt like you were back in time it was so fun! :)

    2. Hi Tom,
Going to a television studio must have really been fun! If I were to work at studio I would either want to be a host or the camera. To answer your question we went to Sovereign Hill for camp a little while ago. It’s located at Ballarat, Victoria, AUS. It’s really fun their because that’s where a gold rush once happened so it’s like stepping back in time since you can gold pan, the buildings are old fashioned, you could by the same sorts of things you could buy in those days and they also have people dressed up that look like miners. We also got to participate in a costume school and dress up as children in the gold rush would and we were in an old looking school on show to the public.

Sky was the best trip I ever had. I was the camera man! the worst part was the ride there because it was so loud and everyone was singing: Ganganstyle, lala lala lala on the coach and call me maybe, I fell in to a deep sleep. We were all told to do a quiz at the start and the endof are time at sky studios.

My group where in studio 1.

The best trip ever i wish i could go back,

At the Sky Skills studios there was 4 studios altogether. Theses are all of the different roles that we had:Director, producer, camera operator, script writer, eyewitness, editor, expert actor/actress,reporters,interviewers. So there were 9 different roles that we could play.

Jason have you been on any really cool school trips? If so tell me all about it. :)

looks like you guys had fun! I've never been in a TV studio before,so I've got some questions; how does a green screen work, and how long does it take to produce a complete video?

    1. Hi Roby,
A green screen helps to make the background look brill usually it just helps you to complete the video which on average is 5:00 mins long sometimes there slightly shorter. Have you been on any cool trips lately? If you have I'd like to know where you'd been!

    2. Hi my name is Toby at BHPS. A green screen is something that connects up to a computer and on the computer you choose the setting what you want then the green screen projects is on to the camera. And it depends how long the video is a 5 minute video takes 25 minutes.

      Delete
    3. Hi Roby. A green screen makes the background come up and on average it took us an hour and a half to make our 5 min video.
